Hospice Volunteers |
Hospice is an interdisciplinary program of care that provides relief from symptoms as well as emotional, social, and spiritual support to people at the end of their lives.

In Mid Coast Maine there are two Hospice programs:

A physicisn must certify an estimated six month prognosis for the patient |
Who is eligible for the programs services? |
Anyone with a life-limiting illness or condition |
Requires a physician referral |
Is a referral necessary? |
No referral is necessary |
Someone must sign on as the Primary Care Giver (usually a family member) |
Do you have to have a Primary Care Giver? |
A Primary Care Giver is not required |
Palliative medical care - comfort measures |
What medical care does the program provide? |
Non-medical care complements chosen treatment |
Medicare covers equipment, pharmaceuticals and medical personnel. Other insurance varies. |
What will it cost? |
No fees |
Home and many in-patient or residential locations |
Where will you receive your care? |
Anywhere |

and businesses for contributions.
